ANA has supported Health Care Reform measures for many years and
speaks out  in a voice driven by nurses in a system NOT driven by nurses. This
year, ANA  is at the table as congress and the president seek to fix our system.
No matter what your personal view on this issue may be, you need to contact
your elected representatives and senators and let them know where you stand.
Below is material to help you identify where ANA and nursing stands.

  Do SOMETHING!!
AMERICAN NURSES ASSOCIATION call for Action.

If our current health care system were a patient, we'd be wheeling it into
the emergency room, shouting for help "Code Stat!"  The number of
uninsured continues to grow, the cost of care continues to rise, and the safety
and quality of care often falls short of what our patients deserve.

Harvard researchers have found that 62% of all personal bankruptcies in the
U.S. in 2007 were caused by health problems-and 78% of those filers had
insurance. Many are concerned about the cost of reforming our health care system,
but the cost of inaction in dollars and lives is too high to put reform off
 yet again.

There is too much at stake to sit on the sidelines-use the toll free
number  below and talking points to call your Representative and Senators and
urge them to pass health care reform legislation with a strong public plan
 this year.

 Here's how:
1.. Call 877-264-4226 (this is a toll free number and you will not be
 charged)
 2. Press 1 to speak to your Senators, or press 2 to speak with your
 Representative
to connect you with the Senators from your state or the Representative
for  the district where you live.

 3. Enter your zip code when prompted-the system will use your zip code
 4. Use or personalize the talking points at
 http://www.rnaction.org/site/R?i=gXtm5diGCmYAcAPCBbX6nA to urge your
members  of Congress to support meaningful health care reform, including a
strong public plan option, this year.
Let us know you called!  Email gova@ana.org and tell us who you called
and what you heard from their offices.
Thanks for speaking out for your patients!
